When you are setting your goal you want to put it in a positive language. For example, instead of stating you don’t want to be fat. You would instead state it as, I will lose 5lbs or I will be a dress size smaller. The outcome is the same but you have framed it in a positive way which will give you a positive relationship with the goal.
You need to make sure your goal is able to fit in your lifestyle. For example, if you want to lose the 5lbs and state you will train everyday for 2-3 hours in the evening after work. But at home you have a husband and 3 children, it will be harder to achieve the outcome. When setting your goal, write down how this will work with your current lifestyle.
Specific is the next step in PESEO. Exactly what it is you want? What is the date you want this achieved by? You need to have specifics as you need create a clear out come for your goal. For example, if you want to lose weight that is too vague, exactly how much do you want to lose and by when?
When you are working towards your goal imagine what it is you will be able to see, hear and feel to know you are getting closer to the goal. Also write down what you will see, hear and feel once you have achieved the goal. Remember to always keep this positive.
Is this a goal you can achieve by yourself? Do you need other people to make changes so you can achieve the goal? If so, what changes? Can you make yourself as independent as possible? If so, how?
